Naval officer booked for molesting his maid

PANAJI: The second in command at naval airbase INS Hansa was booked on Wednesday for allegedly attempting to molest his house maid while his family was out, police officials said. The 46-year old, Commander Mankadan Nambiar has been booked under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, police officials said. "His maid lodged a complaint at the Vasco Police Station claiming that the officer attempted to molest her and tore her clothes at his residence. The officer has now filed for anticipatory bail," the police official said. INS Hansa, is an Indian naval air station located at Dabolim. 

The navy operates the MiG 29K fighters along with maritime reconnaissance aircraft from the airbase which also has a civil enclave for Goa International Airport. When contacted, the naval spokesperson said that the Indian Navy did not want to comment on the issue. However, naval sources said that the Indian Navy had promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations. Police sources said that Nambiar had not been arrested and that the case was under investigation.
